This is Kristy James, Principal of Largo Middle School. Tomorrow we will be welcoming back our students from Spring Break! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. We are excited to have our students back on campus and look forward to a strong finish to the school year.

This is a friendly reminder that all students are expected to follow the Pinellas County Schools dress code. In addition, cell phones should be powered down and kept in backpacks during the school day, and headphones should not be worn at school.

As we return from break, we will be consistently enforcing all schoolwide and district expectations to ensure our campus remains focused on teaching and learning. Our goal is to create a positive school environment where instruction and student success remain the priority.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a great remainder of the school year!

Sincerely,

Kristy James

A Special Message from Principal Liem

February 17, 2026

Greetings Tiger Nation,

This is Alec Liem, Principal of Largo Middle IB World School, calling with some important news. It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve the Largo Middle IB World School community over the last five years. Pending School Board approval, I have been recommended for appointment as the Director of Food and Nutrition for Pinellas County Schools. While I will miss the work we have done together, I am also looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities this role will bring.

Our school has grown tremendously thanks to the dedication and hard work of our outstanding staff and the support you provide your children every day. When I reflect on my time at Largo Middle, countless memories come to mind. Watching our scholars grow academically, socially, athletically, and artistically has been one of the greatest joys of my career. Together, we raised our school grade to a “B” for the first time in six years. Our school is on a terrific trajectory, and I am confident that it will continue to thrive.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, your children, and this outstanding school community. I am incredibly proud of our scholars and staff and all they have accomplished. I look forward to hearing about their continued successes, both here at Largo Middle IB World School and in their post-secondary journeys.

I am also excited to share that, pending School Board approval, Kristy James has been recommended as the new principal of Largo Middle IB World School. Mrs. James brings a proven record of success, including leading Ponce De Leon Elementary School to an “A” rating. She is an exceptional leader who is committed to fostering a positive, supportive, and caring school environment.

Please know that I am only a phone call or email away if you have any questions or if I can offer support regarding your scholar’s well-being. While I am excited to begin this new chapter, the Tiger family will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for all your trust, your partnership, and your unwavering support during my time at Largo Middle IB World School. It has truly been a pleasure to serve alongside you in your child’s educational journey.

Alec Liem
